Donald E. Rhinehart, 92, of Zanesville died at 5:15 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012 at his home. He was born January 7, 1920 in  Zanesville, a son of the late John and Myrtle Smith Rhinehart. He retired after 36 years at McGraw Edison, was a member of Coburn United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army World War II Veteran. Don also was a member of the VFW George Selsam Post 1058, the American Legion Post 29 and the Lodge of Amity # 5 F&AM.

Surviving are a daughter, Debbie ( Toby) Plummer of California, Maryland; a son, Rob ( Glenda) Rhinehart of Zanesville ; five grandchildren, Kyle (Paula) Plummer of Zanesville, Kurt (Suzanne) Plummer of Winchester, CA., Kevin Plummer of Cary, NC. , Michael (Crystal) Dawson of Lebanon and Todd Rhinehart of Zanesville; five great grandchildren, Kayla, Samantha, Cody, Kaitlyn and Alivia.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Gatewood Rhinehart, who died January 28, 1989; two brothers, Robert and Richard Rhinehart; and three sisters, Mary Miller and twin sisters, Dora and Dorothy Rhinehart.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 Tuesday, August 7, 2012 with Lodge of Amity # 5 will hold services at 5:45 p.m. at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the funeral home with Dr. Dennis Baker and Don’s grandson, Rev. Michael Dawson officiating. Don will be laid to rest beside his wife Vivian, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors being provided by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058.

I am so sorry for your loss... What a good Father, friend and mentor he was to you and your family. I never met him but feel I know him from your stories about him... How fortunate for your family that you were all able to be with him. Your memories will always be with you.
