Yvonne J. "Sis" Burns

Yvonne J. "Sis"  Burns, 87, of Zanesville, died at 7:25 P.M. on Friday, April, 21, 2023, at the Oaks of Bethesda, Zanesville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 23, 1935, in White Cottage, Ohio, a daughter of the late William Ray and Cleo Irene (Crawford) Lee. Sis worked as bookkeeper for American Light Company. For over 50 years she operated various charitable bingo games. She loved gardening, traveling, shopping, animals (especially her dogs) and reading.

She is survived by a daughter, Dina (Bradley) Morrison; a niece that was like a daughter, Heidi (Eric) McPeak; a brother, Marlin (Verna) Lee; two sister-in-laws, Sarah Lee and Ruth (Paul) Homman; various nieces, nephews and cousins; a special friend and life long hairdresser, Carla Price, and many friends & neighbors.

In addition to her parents, Yvonne is preceded in death by her husband, John Burns Jr. who died on May 16, 2021; three brothers, Derl Lee, George Lee, and Kern Lee; sister-in-law, Linda Lee; and her beloved dogs, Toots “1” & Toots “2”, Katie and Missy.

Friends and family may call from 5:00-7:00 on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, with Pastor Jason Boggs officiating. Yvonne will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, John, at Chandlersville Cemetery, Chandlersville. All are welcome to gather for a time of food and fellowship at the Chandlersville School following the graveside service.
