William "Bill" Balderson Obituary

William “Bill” Nolan Balderson, 83, of Zanesville, died at 9:50 A.M. on Monday, March 29, 2021 at his home. He was born October 20, 1937, in Zanesville, a son of the late Nolan and Eva (Pickens) Balderson. He a 1956 graduate of Zanesville High School and a United States Army Veteran. He was the owner and operator of Balderson Motor Sales, a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Hubbard Lodge #220 F A&M. Amrou Grotto #45, Charity Newsie, and Board of Ohio Auto Dealers Association. Bill served twelve years on the Muskingum Soil and Water Board, the Board of the Muskingum County Farm Bureau, Muskingum County Health Board, National Dodge Dealer Board, and the Muskingum County Republican Party.  Bill loved farming and was a valued employee of the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Katherine (Payne) Balderson whom he married February 3, 1961; a son, United States Congressman William Troy (Melanie Straker Coyle) Balderson; a grandson, William Joshua (Chelsea) Balderson; three nephews, Drew Balderson, Eric (Brooke) Peterson, and Todd (Jo) Gatewood; three nieces, Beth Balderson, Erin (John) Matthews, and Erin (Greg) Ivry; two sisters-in-laws, Cheryl Balderson and Barbara Peterson; a cousin, who was more like a brother to Bill, Larry (Debbie) Lapp; the loving companion of his son, Tommy, Tammy Powell; and many special friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Payne Balderson; and a brother, James R. Balderson.

A Celebration of Life for Bill and Tommy Balderson will be held at a later date.
