Roy E. Carpenter Jr.

Roy E. Carpenter Jr., 74, of Hopewell, died 5:25 P.M., Thursday, December 1, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 6, 1948, in Zanesville, a son to the late Walter Harold Sr. and Ella Jean (Iden) Carpenter. He was a member of Hopewell Free Methodist Church, worked for Owens Corning as a Group Leader/Machine Tender, Graduated from West Muskingum in 1967 where he played basketball (his true love), he enjoyed playing basketball and golfing with his co-workers, old cars and motorcycles.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years Rita M. (Grimes) Carpenter, whom he married August 17, 1967; three children, Roy E. (Erin) Carpenter, Lonnie R. Carpenter and Trina L. (Shane) Lippert; three grandchildren, Shawn M. Carpenter, Alissa N. Carpenter and Sadie Rae Lippert; a brother Walter Harold (Pam) Carpenter Jr.; three sisters, Debra (John) Nielson, Cheryl (Craig Lenhart) Mapes and Lisa Carpenter; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a uncle Darrell Iden; and many good friends and neighbors.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother Gregory Steven Carpenter.

Roy’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Genesis Hospice and Palliative care for their exceptional service and a special thank you to his nurse Jeremy.

Friends and family may call Monday, December 5, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL, HOME 1271 BLUE AVENUE ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 6, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Hopewell Free Methodist Church, 9515 W Pike, Hopewell. He will be laid to rest at Poplar Fork Cemetery, Gratiot.
