Raymond Morris Obituary

Raymond C. Ray Morris, 93, of Zanesville, died at 4:01 A.M. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at The Oaks at Northpointe, Zanesville. He was born July 29, 1923 in Zanesville, a son of the late William Morgan and Jenny Fuller Morris. He was a machinist for Worthington Industries and a Veteran of the United States Marines. Ray was a lifetime member of the Brighton Presbyterian Church, sixty-five year member of the Gage & Gavel Lodge #448 and had served as Past Master. He was also a sixty-five year member of Morehead and Bliss Eastern Star, a member of the Olive Branch of the Eastern Star in Duncan Falls, and a Lifetime member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Viora M. Williams Morris, whom he married March 20, 1948; three daughters, Deborah (Steve) Dickerson, Rebecca (Randy) Howard, and Beth Dawe; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Lou Radcliffe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Marie Summers; a son-in-law, Albert C. Dawe; and twelve brothers and sisters. Friends and family may call from 5:00 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Masonic Services by Gage and Gavel Lodge #448 at 7:45 P.M. Funeral services will also be held at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 26, 2017, with Rev. Darla Revenaugh officiating. He will be laid to rest at Chandlersville Cemetery, Chandlersville where full Military Honors will be accorded to him by the United States Marines in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
