Marilyn Sue (Newman) Paisley, 86, of Zanesville, died at 5:20 P.M. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at her home. She was born February 2, 1935, in Benton, Illinois, a daughter of Mary Catherine (Kimmel) Newman Caulk and Ralph Ross Newman. In 1941, her father who was in law enforcement was killed in an accident. In 1943, her mother married Wade L. Caulk and Marilyn gained not only a wonderful stepfather but a large extended family which brought her great joy. The family moved to St. Louis, Missouri where Marilyn attended grade school and met her friends of nearly eighty years, Nadine and Roberta. In 1950, a job transfer with the JCPenney Company took the family to Lorain, Ohio where Marilyn graduated from Loraine High School in 1953.

Shortly after her high school graduation, another transfer brought them to Zanesville where she met Robert Dean (Bob) Paisley. The couple married October 24, 1953.

Along with her husband, Marilyn was a member of several classic car clubs which provided opportunities for extensive travel including a trip across the country in an antique car. They also enjoyed spending winters in Fountain Hills, Arizona where many car enthusiasts gathered for classic car auctions. Marilyn was an avid reader and a self-taught Ancestry expert tracing her family back to the 12th Century.

Marilyn was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church. For many years, she was a volunteer at the Helen Purcell Home and active in the Beaux Arts Club.

Marilyn is survived by eight children, Mike (Barb) Paisley, Dee (Anthony) Stone, Cindy (Tim) Linn, John (Pattina) Paisley, Steve Paisley, Pam (John) Dosker, Bob (Shari) Paisley, and Chris (Susie) Paisley; nineteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of fifty four years, Bob, Marilyn is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Jacala Minnick Paisley; grandsons, Matthew Rains and Mitch Stone, her parents and stepfather.
