James Bennett Obituary

James Andrew “Bingo” Bennett, 67, of Zanesville, died at 9:57 P.M. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born February 8, 1957, in Zanesville, a son of the late Virgil D. “Bing” and Hilda A. (Van Horn) Bennett. He retired from the Licking County Justice Center after over 20 years of employment. James could often be found on the golf course or on his motorcycle, and he enjoyed playing his bass guitar and was in several local bands.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry (Fitz) Bennett, whom he married September 21, 1974; two children, Jeremy (Amanda McGrory) Bennett and Ann Bennett; his pride and joy and the light of his life, granddaughter Kyndall Bennett; two brothers, Jay (Jesse Schultz) Bennett and Mike (Jessica) Bennett; a sister Debra (Donnie) Mohler; mother-in-law Dorothy Fitz; and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, friends, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Jeff Bennett; and his father-in-law Bill Fitz.

Friends and family may call from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. Per Jim’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.

 A cremation will take place under the direction of the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home & Crematory.
