Irene Bailey Obituary

Irene Bailey, 87, of Zanesville, died at 5:20 P.M. on Monday, October 24, 2016, at Genesis Hospital. She was born May 30, 1929, in Zanesville, daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel Reed Gookins. She retired from Columbia Gas after fifteen years of service in customer service. Irene enjoyed traveling in her motor home visiting forty-nine states. She enjoyed Florida three months out of the year and loved her flowers and her family. She is survived by her husband of forty-one years, George Bailey, whom she married July 14, 1975; three sons, Dan (Audra) Smith, Rick (Carol Krofft) Smith, and Tim (Diana) Smith; a step-daughter, Rebeca (Jeff) Robb; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Don, Kenneth, Orville, and Charles Gookins. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60683.
