Fred Kennedy Obituary

Frederick “Fred” W. Kennedy, 77, of Zanesville, died at 10:56 AM on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. He was born August 14, 1943, in Zanesville, a son of the late Benjamin F. and Violet (Mayle) Kennedy, Sr. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam and a member of Rolling Plains United Methodist Church. Fred retired after thirty years from Stewart-Glapat Corporation and had previously worked at Gould Batteries. He loved fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of thirty two years, Rosalind K. (Darst) Kennedy whom he married April 16, 1988; four children, Joey Kennedy, Julie (Jamie) Miller, Kim (Brad) Houston, and Christy (Scott) Land; five grandchildren, Landon Miller, Lauren (Joel) Neubauer, Megan (Kyle) Hittle, Jessica Lytton and Vince Houston; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Carter, Owen, and Sarah; and three siblings, Velma Miller, Daniel (Janet) Kennedy, and Timothy (Amy) Kennedy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin (Frank) Kennedy, Jr.; and two sisters, JoAnn Gill and Delores Jean Garrett.

Friends and family may call from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Monday, March 1, 2021 at the Rolling Plains United Methodist Church, 3350 Moxahala Park Road, Zanesville and one hour prior to the funeral service to be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, with Pastor John Alice officiating.  He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville with Full Military Honors being accorded to him by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.

The family requests that self-provided face masks be worn and social distancing be observed during the calling hours and funeral service.
