Donald E. Phillips, 73, of Zanesville, died at 11:40 A.M. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 10, 1948, a son of the late Marion E. and Frieda C. (Alexander) Phillips. He was a United States Navy and United States Air Force Veteran in which he was a Master Sargent with the Ohio Air National Guard for a combined total of thirty-seven years of service. He was a welding instructor at Mid-East Vocational School, a member of the VFW Post 1058 and Lodge of Amity #5, a volunteer firefighter at Washington Township for ten years, an Ohio State Buckeye fan, a Zanesville Blue Devils fan, and a handyman of all trades.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Rebecca (Geist) Phillips, whom he married on May 28, 1969; four sons, William Phillips, Michael (Mylinda) Phillips, Dustin Phillips, and Bryan Phillips; two grandsons, Tyler and Conner Phillips; first cousin, Gary Earich; and many second cousins.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his Aunt Pauline Earich and Uncle Orville Earich.
Friends and family may call from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Masonic Services to be held at 5:45 P.M. Friends and family may also call one hour prior to the funeral service to be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 3, 2022, with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. Full Military Honors accorded to him by the United States Navy, VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
