William Lawrence Cooper, 86, of Zanesville, died at 4:27 A.M. on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born March 14, 1940, in Zanesville, a son of the late Robert George and Betty Katherine (Jones) Cooper. Bill worked at Anchor Glass Container as a mould maker and was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a mason and was a member of the Lodge of Amity #5 in Zanesville and a 32nd degree mason of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge. Bill enjoyed raising Black Angus cattle, riding his tractor, and woodworking and making furniture. Bill had a great sense of humor that often brought joy and laughter to everyone.

He is survived by two children, William Lawrence Cooper II and Molly Jane (Robert) Scherf; grandchildren, Dirk A. Pennell, Michael R. Pennell; Mackenzie W. Cooper, Mary K. (Dillon) Allen, Emma J Scherf, William J. Scherf, Elizabeth A. Vicenie; and two step grandchildren, Valerie Carson and William Carson Jr.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Rebecca Cooper; a daughter, Beth Anne Cooper; and a brother, Robert K. Cooper.

Friends and family may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of service starting at 11:00 A.M on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the First Christian Church, 3000 Dresden Road Zanesville, with Rev. Laureen A. Roe officiating.

Cremation care will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, AT OUR LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED CREMATORY.
