Virginia Lea (Beck) Hildreth, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. Known fondly as Ginny, she was a longtime resident of Zanesville for the last 37 years, previously living in several other Ohio cities.
Born on March 8, 1933 along with her "womb-mate" and twin sister Vivian in Goshen, Indiana, she enjoyed many happy experiences with her family. She came from a long line of teachers, so learning became more of a hobby than a chore. Her parents, Ralph and Lydia (predeceased), instilled the beauty of knowledge with the twins and their older brother Gordon (predeceased) and their younger brother Willis.
The family later moved to Bowling Green, Ohio where Virginia graduated from High School. She went on to study Elementary Education and graduated from Bowling Green State University. Her ongoing hobbies of art and music rounded out her studies and interests as the subjects remained a constant enjoyment in her life.
Soon after college, Virginia met a handsome young fellow named Roe (Bud) Hildreth. He also was an ambitious educator with many dreams and a kindred spirit. They tied the knot of matrimony in June of 1956. Next thing you know, they had three children!
Moving around the state of Ohio provided a change of atmosphere and the desire to travel. Ginny and Bud were successful travel guides for their children as they all explored the United States from sea to sea over the years.
In the meantime, Ginny enjoyed being a stay at home mom and always met new friends wherever they lived. Her involvement in the Methodist Church was always a staple in her life and kept her active in the Church Choir, the Bell Choir and several committees. It all strengthened her Christian faith as it blossomed within the years.
In addition to substitute teaching, traveling, word games and crafts, she was a terrific pie baker and a talented musician. She loved playing the piano and composing songs.
Ginny was a patient and kind soul who always found the positive side of life. She was blessed with a life well lived, as her love for others will continue through her family legacy.
Virginia lost her husband Roe on July 8, 2016. She is survived by her twin sister, Vivian Clark, Brother Willis Beck, Daughter, Roanne (Tom) FitzGibbon, Son Robert Hildreth (Wendy), Randall Hildreth (Elizabeth), Grand-children: Gwen Stiles, Andrea (Tony) Martin, Evan Hildreth, Charissa (Dan) Mervine and Shannon Hildreth, as well as great-grandchildren Kayla Stiles, Julia Stiles, Gillian Martin and Jade Martin (predeceased). Numerous nieces and nephews with extended family members and special friends are recognized as we send this special lady into the Heavens...for rest and peace and love.
