Steven C. Wymer, 74, of Zanesville, died at 8:33 P.M. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Genesis Hospital. He was born November 23, 1950, in Zanesville, a son of the late Edwin and Bonita (McBride) Wymer. Steven served our country as a United States Air Force and Air National Guard Veteran. He was a forty-year Brockway Glass retiree. Steve was a Christian by faith but bound by no denomination, he was always lending a hand. He was quick with a corny joke and took responsibility for making folks smile. He loved kids, he loved being a father and grandpa. Steve was a hunter and fisherman and enjoyed plinking old country music on his guitar. He was a dog person and our very own “Dog Whisperer” (There is going to be a party at the Rainbow Bridge). While we are grieved that he is gone we are assured he is in good hands.
He is survived by his wife, together for fifty-eight years, Lynn Roxanne (Barlow) Wymer whom he married, September 1, 1972; two sons, Leslie (Jamie) Wymer and Lucas (Kris) Wymer; two grandsons, Matthew (Taylor) Wymer and Alonzo Wymer; a brother, Darryl Wymer; a sister, Sharon Wymer; mother-in-law, Maxine Barlow; two sisters-in-law, Rise̋ Barlow, and Randi Barlow Pappa; his companion, Finn who Steve said was “the dog of my dreams”; his friend and buddy, Barb Durant; and numerous cherished friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins –you know who you are.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Dayle C. (Purita) Wymer; three sisters, Joan Harris, Connie McLain, and Brenda Denbow; and father-in-law, Leslie Barlow
