Sherry Ruth Lane

Sherry Ruth Lane, 89, of Dresden, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at Windsorwood Place. Born on July 10, 1937, in Dresden, Ohio, Sherry was the daughter of the late David D. Lane and Ruth B. (Smith) Shoemaker. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Paul Shoemaker, and her brother-in-law, Dale Graves.

A proud graduate of Jefferson High School in Dresden, Class of 1955, Sherry continued her education by earning her associate's degree. She spent several years working in New York before relocating to New Jersey, where she enjoyed a successful career as a Principal Accountant at Rutgers University. She dedicated many years of faithful service before retiring.

Sherry embraced life with a spirit of adventure and curiosity. She loved traveling to new places, trying her luck at casinos, and spending time outdoors. Among her many adventures, one of her favorites was prospecting for gold in Alaska, a pursuit that reflected her adventurous nature and appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors. She will be remembered for her independence, warm heart, and the many memories she created with those who knew and loved her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved sister, Aloma Graves; her nieces, Paula Charmaine Graves, Laura (Larry) Renee Atkin, Amber (Timothy) Lane Abbuhl, and great-nieces, Wren Abbuhl, Claire Elizabeth Abbuhl, and great-nephew, Nathan Atkins; along with extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, AT OUR LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED CREMATORY.
