Robert Ellsworth Hayes Jr., 77, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 22, 1949, in Muskingum County, Ohio, to the late Robert Ellsworth Hayes Sr. and Gloria (Krouskoupf) Hayes.
Robert dedicated many years of hard work as a Journeyman Operator for Owens Brockway Glass, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and steady commitment. A man who truly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, Robert loved NASCAR, professional wrestling, sitting outside enjoying the day, and watching The Big Bang Theory. He also had a passion for traveling, vintage cars, woodworking, and building things with his hands. Above all else, Robert’s greatest joy came from his family. He deeply loved his wife, cherished his grandchildren, and took immense pride in his children and the lives they built.
On June 16, 1968, he married the love of his life, Candylene S. (Murphy) Hayes, with whom he shared nearly 58 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
Robert is lovingly survived by his wife, Candylene S. Hayes; his children, Robert (Shirley) Hayes III, Serena (Doug) Whited, and Jason C. (Teresa) Hayes; his beloved grandchildren, Brittney, Josh, Tyler, Alex, Marissa, Travis, Haley, and Clayton; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Noah and Noelle. He is also survived by his sisters, Cheryl Browning, Lucinda Watts, Sadie Hayes, Una (Benny) Greenwood, and Jera Kohutek; his brother, Earl Ray (Mary) Hayes; his sister from another motha, Patty Donahue; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
