Myrtle Ann McCoy

April 15, 1931 — June 11, 2025

Zanesville

Heaven received a beautiful, sweet, spunky angle that we call Mom. Myrtle Ann (Naragon) McCoy, 94, of Zanesville, passed away on June 11, 2025. While our hearts are heavy…what a party that is being had by all her family and friends. She of course has the biggest, most beautiful, sparkling, wings allowed.

Mom was always up for an adventure and we would say she is sure on an amazing one now. She loved her family, friends, neighbors, Willy Nelson, long car rides, the moon, crafting, her hair just so-so, flowers, pretty necklaces, family gatherings, feeding the birds, her hair just so-so, the Smith Brother’s Band, sending and receiving cards, blueberry muffins, her hair just so-so and singing as she was going to bed. Yes, her hair just so-so three times was not a misprint if you knew her, you get it. She hated gossip, lies, wrinkles in her sheets, and wearing shoes and coats… which made life in Ohio interesting. She lived a beautiful, happy and wonderful life and many people loved her.

She was a devoted mother to her three children: Karla (Jerry) Cole, Randy (Melissa) McCoy and Gina (Roger) Iden. She was very proud of her children and the job she did raising them. She also approved of the spouses they chose and thought of them as her own children. Her grandchildren, who call her Grandma Mert include: Michael (Mary) Cole, Lori (Derek) James and Jeremy Cole. Her great-grandchildren, Tommy Francis, Kyle Spears, Kayla and Emerson Nice, Riley James, Louden James, Taylor Archer and Cooper Edwards Cole. Great-great grandchildren:

Tobias, Lorenzo and Waylon Nice.

Mom would tell you she was born on “Tax Day” April 15, 1931, to Edward Naragon and Camilla Koontz. She was the oldest of six children: Charles (Barbara) Naragon, Nira (Albert) Hobstetter, Curt (Brenda) Naragon, Cynthia Kay Jones and Linda (Lee) Perrine. Her parents, all her siblings and a very special great grandson, Levi Cole, who we know she is fishing with now, preceded her in death. Mom was blessed with some very, very special nieces and nephews and each of you held a special place in her heart.

She has had amazing caregivers over the last ten years that were crucial to her being able to live such an amazing life in her own home. They were family to her and treated her like they would their own mothers/grandmothers. We know many of her caregivers are heartbroken right now including her current caregivers: Libby, Dee and Kaylee. We thank you all for caring for our mom and know she loved you.

A very special thank you to an angel sent to us by God on June 11th, Audrey Clark, who was able to give our mom a kiss on the forehead and fix her hair just so-so one last time, when her family was not able to do it. Your act of kindness, compassion and love is an amazing memory that gives our family comfort.

We love you Mom and will carry you in our hearts forever. Our hearts are heavy but not broken -they are actually a little bigger because we need a little extra space in them to carry you around with us until we are with you again.

A celebration of life will be held June 28th, 2025, at 11:00 am, 345 South Street, Gratiot, Ohio, at Gratiot United Methodist Church with Jeff Iden officiating. Lunch and story telling will follow immediately in the Church banquet room.

Feel free to wear your favorite music t-shirt, she will love that. As an expression of sympathy, the family would like you to: hug someone you love, tell someone they are pretty, or perform a random act of kindness.
