Mary Lou Scott 93, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the Cedar Hills Care Center, Zanesville. She was born July 1, 1928, in Killbuck, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Lillian Englehardt. She married Charles E. Scott on November 22, 1947.
Mary Lou, along with her husband Charles, were the founders, owner and operators of Scott Battery Company for 50 years. She has been a lifelong member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Her affiliations include; being a long time 4-H advisor for the Richvale Girls 4H Club, volunteered her time while her children were growing up at the Jefferson School Library. She was actively involved in the Jefferson School PTA program, eventually becoming it's President. She was part of the Ladies Aid Society, former Zanesville Mother of the Year, an Avon representative and was an avid reader of many books.
Surviving are her nine children: Patrick (Marilyn) Scott of Phoenix, AZ and their children Susan, Michael and Robert; Thomas (Patricia) Scott of Zanesville, OH, and their son Brian; James (Karen) Scott of Dresden, OH and their children, William and Jennifer; Daniel (Susan) Scott of Coshocton, OH and their children Joe, Phaedra, Andy, Phillip and Paul; Jeanette (Doug) Muse of Delaware, OH and their children Ashley and Brad; Barbara (Jim) Lafferty of Litholpolis OH and their children Joshua and Alexis; Nancy (Erik) Holmquist of Johnstown, OH and their children Sara, Mary and Amanda; John (Lori) Scott, Bradenton, FL and children Jeff, Jason and Jacklyn; Greg (Robin) Scott of Zanesville and son-in-law Robert Sherfy of Zanesville. Also surviving grandchildren; Shane Bowden, Karen Solt and Missy Smith. Along with 25 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, Charles E. Scott who passed away August 26, 2015, an infant son, Paul, daughter Rosemary L. Sherfy. Also preceding her were three grandchildren: Adam Patrick Scott, Lynette Bowden, and Anthony (Tony) Scott. Her brothers Asa and John Englehardt, her sisters, Dorothy Brown and Florence Cooper.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Hills Care Center for their loving care of Mary Lou over the years.
Friends and family may call from 4:00 P.M. -8:00 P.M. Sunday, May 8, 2022 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 9, 2022 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 Main Street, Zanesville with Fr. Jan C.P. Sullivan as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.
