Mary Evelyn Parkinson entered her eternal home on February 26, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born and raised in rural Dale, Ohio, Mary was the daughter of the late Herbert and Stella (Echelberry) Pyle. One of six children, she grew up in the close-knit community of the United Methodist Church, where her early years shaped her deep faith, her commitment to service, and her lifelong love of family and fellowship.
After graduating from Philo High School, Mary moved to Zanesville, Ohio, where she built both her career and a new community. Mary worked for nearly 30 years at the Muskingum County Courthouse, assisting with real estate transactions. She was known for her diligence, kindness, and genuine desire to help others.
For almost 70 years, Mary was a devoted member of Fair Oaks Baptist Church, where her service became a defining part of her life. She poured her heart into teaching, serving on church boards, and participating in mission groups. Whether preparing lessons, organizing activities, or offering a listening ear, Mary lived out her faith with humility and joy. Her steady presence and unwavering belief in the power of God’s love touched countless lives.
Mary was also an avid reader, a golf enthusiast, and a talented baker who loved sharing treats with family and friends. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, relaxing on her front porch, and cheering on Ohio State football.
She is survived by her step‑son, Rick (Janet) Parkinson of Bolivar, OH; her daughter, Vicki (Tom) Harper of Powell, OH; and her son, Dennis (Kristin) Amrine of Williamsburg, VA; along with many grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband who she was married to for 40 years, James L. Parkinson, whom she married July 6, 1968; five siblings, James, Homer, Denny, Tommy and Eloise.
