Martha J. Ryan

Martha Ryan, 84, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025. Born on February 20, 1941, to Robert and Gladys Lucas, Martha was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She grew up on a farm with her sisters, Barbara Kolacki and Nancy Moore, and brother, David Lucas. Growing up on a farm, Martha developed a deep love for nature and a strong work ethic that she carried throughout her life. She enjoyed painting and doing arts and crafts, finding solace and joy in her creativity. Throughout the years, she was always accompanied by a dog, a loyal companion, that brought her comfort and companionship.

Martha had a special bond with her husband, Terry, and their family, often spending afternoons playing dominoes with them, sharing laughter and making memories. Professionally, Martha worked at First National Bank and later at the hospital, where she formed lasting relationships and positively impacted the lives of those around her.

Martha always had a smile on her face and had a positive attitude. She loved adventure and she could be found taking trips in her wheel chair to the dairy queen or Walmart. Martha touched the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love and kindness will live on through the memories she leaves behind.

She is survived by her three sons, Chuck (Gloria) Ryan, Danny (Misty) Ryan, and Tommy Ryan, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Martha is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry Ryan, and her son, Steve.

A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, AT OUR LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED CREMATORY.

A celebration of life will be held later in the fall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the St Nicholas Church in Zanesville Ohio, the MS Foundation or your local animal shelter.
