Kathy M. Abbott

Kathy M. Abbott, 75, of Zanesville, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Smith’s Mill Health Campus in New Albany. She was born September 12, 1949, in Marietta and lived most of her life in Zanesville. She was the daughter of the late Harold “Jim” and Betty (Sims) Hayes. She graduated from Maysville High School and was an administrative assistant at Dollar General in Zanesville.

 Kathy will be remembered for her quiet strength and the love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her son, Randall (Jessica) Abbott; two grandchildren, Zachary Abbott and Cameron Abbott; and her brother, Jim Hayes. 

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Ron” Abbott, and her brother, Rodney Hayes. 

A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, AT OUR LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED CREMATORY. 

Graveside Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at St. Paul Cemetery, 1655 Bald Hill Road, Zanesville, with Pastor Johnny Nolan of Sonora Church officiating. Kathy is reunited in peace and eternal love with her beloved husband, Ron. 

In honor of Kathy’s love for animals and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Animal Shelter Society, Inc., at 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio.
