John Samuel Burns, Sr.

John Burns Jr., 88, of Zanesville, died at 9:51 A.M. on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. He was born December 6, 1932, in Zanesville, a son of the late John and Mildred (Harbaugh) Burns, Sr. He was a United States Navy Seabee Veteran and retired from Armco Steel after forty-four years of service as a crane operator. John loved fishing, hunting, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Yvonne J. (Lee) Burns whom he married February 21, 1953; a daughter, Dina (Bradley) Morrison; a sister, Ruth (Paul) Homman; several nieces and nephews including Laura Ebert and Timothy Lee; a brother-in-law, Marlin (Verna) Lee; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Lee and Sarah Lee.

Friends and family may call from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE with Mr. William L. Meaige officiating.  He will be laid to rest at Chandlersville Cemetery, Chandlersville.
