James "Jim" Lee Brock

James “Jim” Lee Brock, 85, of Nashport, died at8:02 P.M. on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 19, 1940, in Zanesville, a son of the late Albert Newton and Eleanor (Durant) Brock.

Known as Jim to his many friends and as “Poppie” to his beloved family, Jim lived a full and productive life defined by hard work, devotion to family, service to others, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people he loved.

Jim learned the value of hard work at a very young age, beginning his working life in his early teens. He began his career with Carl Rittenberger Meats, where he worked his way through the ranks and became a skilled meat cutter and butcher. He later continued in the meat-cutting business with IGA.

Eventually, Jim traded his butcher’s apron for the open road and began a career as a professional truck driver with Putnam Transfer. He spent the remainder of his working career there before retiring after many years of dedicated service. Jim took great pride in his profession and was equally proud to be a Teamster.

In his early years, Jim also gave back to his community as a volunteer firefighter with Washington Township. His willingness to answer the call and serve his neighbors reflected the sense of duty and commitment to others that would remain an important part of his character throughout his life.

Jim was very active socially and greatly valued the friendships and fellowship he found through the organizations he served. He was a dedicated member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, working his way through the officer ranks and ultimately serving as President. He remained active and took great pride in continuing to serve the organization as a Past President.

Jim was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he achieved the distinguished rank of Fourth Degree Knight.

Jim enjoyed the simple things that made life special. He loved traveling with his wife, Kay, and the memories they made together over their many years of marriage. He looked forward to playing cards with his buddies at the Eagles and especially treasured his weekly breakfasts with his brother-in-law, Roger. These friendships, traditions, and time spent with the people he cared about brought Jim great joy throughout his life.

Of all Jim’s accomplishments and the things he enjoyed, however, none meant more to him than his family.

Jim was a remarkable example of what it meant to be a present father. Despite the long hours and demands of being a professional truck driver, he made it a priority to be there for his children. Ballgames, school activities, celebrations, milestones, and the everyday moments of life mattered to him. His children could count on their dad being there.

That same love and devotion continued as his family grew. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was affectionately known as Poppie, a name that represented one of the roles he cherished most.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Catherine “Kay” Brock; his sons, Jim (Amy) Brock and Eddie (Beth) Brock; his daughters, Shari (Mark) Weingarth and Marianne (Lyndon) Christman; as well as his 13 beloved grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Newton Brock; his mother, Eleanor Durant Brock; his brothers, Charles and William Brock; and his grandson, Cody Brock Sidwell.

Jim’s life was built around simple but enduring values: work hard, keep your commitments, serve your community, take care of your family, and be there when the people you love need you.

For 66 years, he shared his life with Kay. Together they built a family that became the center of his world. He worked hard for everything he had, remained proud of where he came from, and found his greatest happiness surrounded by those he loved.

To his friends, he will always be remembered as Jim.

To his children, he will always be Dad.

And to the generations who followed him, he will forever be Poppie.

His was a life well lived—a life of hard work, service, loyalty, friendship, and, above all, love of family. The example he set and the values he lived by will continue through the generations of the family he loved so deeply.
