Gerald C. Vargeson Jr.

Gerald C. Vargeson Jr., 80, of Asheboro, North Carolina, formerly of Zanesville, died at 2:46 P.M. on Friday, October 4, 2024, at home. He was born July 17, 1944, in Wellsboro, PA, a son of the late Gerald Sr. and Beatrice (Calkins) Vargeson. Jerry was a department manager for the Varilla Glass Company for forty-four years. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of Penn State, Houston Astros, Syracuse Orange, and NASCAR, especially #4 Kevin Harvick.

He is survived by his wife Carol A. (Bernas) Vargeson whom he married, on June 17, 1989; two children, Jerry (Jamie) Vargeson of Oak Island NC. and Kathy (Ron) Bauman of Corning, NY.; three stepchildren, David (Jodi Doerr) Hawkins, Kevin (Patricia) Catlin, and Bryan (Monica) Catlin; eight grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Luann, and Nancy Beam; two brothers, Dwayne (Vickie) Vargeson and Billy (Diane) Beam.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Costine; and one brother, Danny Beam.

Friends and family may call from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 11, 2024, with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
