Dorothy G. (Nutt) Howard, 89, of South Zanesville, died at 4:10 A.M. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Clay Gardens Place, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 11, 1935, a daughter of the late Harold and Adelia (Wheeler) Nutt. Dorothy was a lifelong member of South Zanesville United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends. A beloved grandma who graciously gave her time to her grandchildren. She was known to her great-grandchildren as Gigi. A longtime member of the Muskingum Valley Boating Association, she endured boating with a smile and made many life long friends. Also, bowling leagues and card clubs were favorite hobbies. If it was a social event she was there, helping organize, decorate and even cleaning up. She loved being busy. Her husband, Thurman and she loved to dance which was a large part of their lives. Music was always playing at their house. Always loved being outdoors, she would walk daily throughout the neighborhood stopping and visiting along the way.
She is survived by a son, Randy (Beckie) Howard; a daughter, Tammy (Steve) Vincent; five grandchildren, Ryan Howard, Amelia Lepi, Sarah (Chase) Tippie, Laura (Austin) James and Noah Vincent; eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Thurman Howard, whom she married, June 12, 1955; a son, Michael Howard; three brothers, Gerald “Jerry” Nutt, Homer Nutt, and Harold Nutt Jr.; three sisters, Esther Perone, Katherine Davis, and Betty Swank. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Jeff Belt officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Thurman and her son Mike.
A cremation will take place under the direction of the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE ZANESVILLE at OUR LOCALLY OWNED & OPERATED CREMATORY.
