Brent L. Aggas, 77, of Zanesville, died at 11:09 pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at his home. He was born March 4, 1949, in Zanesville, a son of the late Leslie Ward and Juanita (Fenneken) Aggas. A lifelong resident of the community, he was a proud graduate of West Muskingum High school, Ohio Valley Junior College, and Muskingum University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He served as Supervisor and Deputy Director of Job and Family Services for 32 years and was a member of Gratiot United Methodist Church. A lifelong lover of sports, Brent had a particular passion for basketball, while also enjoying baseball and golf. He treasured the opportunity to coach and encourage young athletes. His love and dedication to the game were recognized with his induction into the Ohio Valley Basketball Hall of Fame and, most recently, the West Muskingum Basketball Hall of Fame. Brent stayed active by working at golf courses and giving golf lessons.
His name was well known throughout the community. Whenever his children would introduce themselves by their last name, they would often be asked “Are you related to Brent Aggas?” followed by a fond story or cherished memory of their father.
He is survived by his children, Lindsay Aggas (Scott) and Beau Aggas (Renee); two grandchildren, Aydan Bennett and Brenley Chapman, plus a third on the way; a brother Larry (Gayle) Aggas; an Aunt Peggy Garey; many nieces, nephews, and many great friends (you know who you are).
In addition to his parents, Brent was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pamela Jo (Dunn) Aggas; and a special Aunt Norma McCullough.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. He will be laid to rest at Poplar Fork Cemetery at a later date.
