Brenda Lou Atwood, 77, of Nashport, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 22, 2026. She was born July 7, 1949, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Don and Sara (Croy) Miller.
A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; Brenda held her family close to her heart. Nothing was more important to her than the people she loved, and some of her happiest moments were spent simply being together. Whether sharing a visit, enjoying a family gathering, or playing games with her grandchildren, Brenda treasured the everyday moments that become a family’s most precious memories.
Brenda was a successful businesswoman who devoted more than 40 years to the salon business, with her work at The Hairitage and Brenwood salons becoming an important part of her life. Through her talent and years of dedication, she built lasting relationships with the people she worked with and those who sat in her chair.
Active and competitive by nature, Brenda enjoyed golf, tennis, and traveling. She brought that same spirited enthusiasm to games with her grandchildren, where the joy of playing together meant as much as the competition. Her family will lovingly remember both her determination and the tender love behind all she did for them.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Lance (Kim)Atwood and Chad Atwood; her stepson, Scott (Jen) Atwood; her sisters, Linda Rankin and Pam Miller; her brother, Donie Miller; and her beloved grandchildren, Zane, Dillon, Carter, Marlowe, Julia, and Jameson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her daughter, Sara Atwood, and her sister, Deborah Melsheimer, and her former spouse, Marshall Atwood..
Family and friends may gather to remember Brenda on Monday, October 26, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at North Terrace Church of Christ, 420 Brandywine Blvd, Zanesville, OH. A private funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 27th with private burial to follow. BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVE, ZANESVILLE, OHIO is caring for the family.
Brenda leaves behind a lifetime of love woven into the hearts of her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she helped create and the love she gave so freely will remain with them always.
