Arthur E. “Butch” Armstrong, 69, of Philo, died at 8:16 A.M. on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. He was born April 30, 1956, in Zanesville, a son of Barbara Brunson and the late Vernon Armstrong. Butch was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as an Arborist for NOVCO and was a longtime member of the Muskingum Valley Boating Association. Butch found joy in watching old westerns, especially Gun Smoke, Bonanza, and Wagon Train.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joan A. (Ziemer) Armstrong, whom he married August 23, 1986; his daughter Veronica (Chris Davis) Armstrong; siblings, Theresa (Doug) Ballard, Joe (Mindy) Armstrong, Eric (Robin) Armstrong, and Keith Armstrong; grandchildren, Slade (Brandy Darby) Armstrong, James Kain, Chloe Davis, and Haylee Davis; great-granddaughter, Leylanni Darby; special sister-in-law Teresa (John Smitley) Ziemer; and his Armstrong cousins.
The family will hold a Celebration of life at a later date.
A cremation will take place under the direction of the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE.
