Alyce J. Kronenbitter

Alyce Josephine Kronenbitter, 101, of Zanesville, entered the gates of heaven at 2:35 am on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Traditions of Zanesville. She was born November 13, 1924, in Malta, a daughter of the late John and Hazel (McGrath) Demster. She graduated from M&M High School in 1942, married the love of her life Joseph Richard Kronenbitter in May of 1947, and dedicated many years to Essex Wire as an Assembler. Alyce had a special way of making those around her feel loved, welcomed and cared for. Her kindness and hard work ethic touched the lives of 4 generations, leaving a legacy of memories.

Alyce, known to many as Nanny, enjoyed going to the Twin City Opera House, going to church, and of course, watching her grand and great grandchildren. She could often be found hanging out in her daughter-in-law’s beauty shop, who was a wonderful caregiver for her over the years, providing her with love and compassion, and unwavering support. Her kindness and dedication meant so much to her and to our family.

She is survived by her children John (Becky) Kronenbitter and Bettie L. Price; grandchildren Tammy Kronenbitter, Lori (Ben) Bowen, Johnny Kronenbitter, Jamie (Jeff) Swingle, Jodi (John) Paul, Rick Batteiger, and Lisa (Donny) Harris; great grandchildren Tyler (Tiffany) Sines, Levi (Kierstyn) Bowen, Jadyn Bowen, Braylee Kronenbitter, Mariah Swingle, Matthew Paul, Kelsi Paul, Wyatt Paul, Blake Batteiger, Jake (Ashley) Batteiger, Brandon (Bailey) VanDyne and Brenton McLean; and great great grandchildren Beau & Brodie Sines, Weston Bowen, Maci Cosgrave, Race Eck, Tatum Paul, Gunner, Lily and Bennett Batteiger, and Avery and Jude VanDyne.

In addition to her parents, Alyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dick Kronenbitter; daughter Cheryl Batteiger; siblings Ruth Roush, Bettie (Don) Bailey, Roberta (Bob) Howard, Jackie (Faye) Parson and Frank (Geneva) Demster; sons-in-law Dick Batteiger and Gary Lee Price; and grandchildren Toby and Tracy Batteiger.
