Allen Lee Olney, 89, of Zanesville, died at 6:15 P.M. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at The Oaks at Bethesda. He was born June 23, 1936, in Chesterhill, OH, the son of the late Delpha and Opal (Grubb) Olney, Allen was a 1955, graduate of Marion High School in Chesterhill following high school Allen proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked road construction for the Alan Stone Company until his retirement. Allen was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Malta Lodge 118, the Morgan County Historical Society, the Morgan County Camera Club, and the Operating Engineers Union Local 18.
He is survived by a son, Christopher (Lisa) Olney; a daughter, Jennifer (Ted) Zahn; grandchildren, Emily Olney and Connor Olney; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Barbara) Kruse; a nephew, Nathan Kruse; and two cousins, Carole (Tom) Harper and Mark (Linda) Cheadle.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Barbara G. (Kruse) Olney whom he married on July 18, 1964; his brother-in-law, James (Janet) Kruse; and his cousin, Linda Kinney.
Friends and family may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE and one hour prior to funeral service which will be held at 12:00 NOON on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 116 N. 7th St. Zanesville, OH. 43701, with Pastor Mark Combs officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Barbara at St. Paul Cemetery in Sonora.
