Penny E. Childers, 68, of Hopewell, died at 00:36 A.M. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 14, 1951 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy Gillogly Crawford. Penny graduated from John Glenn High School, worked as an STNA at Laurels Nursing Home, and is a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam.
She is survived by five daughters, Penny (Bradley) Harris of Newark, Dorothy (Everett) Hill of Byesville, Robin (Brandon) DeLong of Hopewell, Grace Childers of Dawson Springs, Kentucky and Mary (Tyler) Boyer of Zanesville; three sons, Cody (Mary) Childers of Port Richey, Florida, Kaleb Childers of Bonifay, Florida and Scott (Chelsea) of South Bloomfield; two step sons, Jackie Childers of Black River, New York and Morris Lewis of Evansville, Indiana; twelve grandchildren, Blake Harris, Jessie Paynter, Brayden Harris, Dominic Paynter, Cameron DeLong, Levi Paynter, Fenix Hogan, Sidney DeLong, Blayze Hogan, Aurora Hogan, Abigail Childers and Landon Childers; five brothers, Joe (Cheryl) Crawford, Tom (Karen) Crawford, Ted Crawford, Ray (Mindy) Crawford and Danny (Janet) Crawford; a sister, Helen Bell; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Penny is preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Childers, whom she married March 14, 1974 and died March 5, 2005; a grandson, Easton DeLong; and a sister, Dorothy Deem.
Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, January 13, 2020 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, with Pastor John Brothers officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded to her by the United States Army in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29. Penny will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park, Zanesville.
