Dora M. (Potts) Taylor

Dora M. Taylor, 81, of Zanesville, died at 3:52 A.M. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Primrose Retirement Community of Zanesville.  She was born April 14, 1942, in Columbus, a daughter of the late Webster and Viola (Carpenter) Potts. Dora was a 1960 graduate of Big Walnut High School and a 1964 graduate of Otterbein University earning her bachelor’s degree. Dora enjoyed officiating volleyball games, she loved music and played the dulcimer. She was an avid traveler, with her favorite destination being South Padre Island, Texas.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Merle Taylor, Jr., whom she married December 22, 1989; two daughters, Anna (Joe) Johnson and Alice (Tim) Beers; a son, Jason Stockdale; eight grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (Arden) Knight; and a brother, Verle (Annie) Potts; step-children, Kim (Rick) Wilhelm, Dave (Molly) Taylor, Janet (Don) Gibbs and Julie Taylor and their children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Velma Hicks, and a brother, David Potts.

Friends and family may call from 4:00 P.M. until time of service starting at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Rev. Deb Bowsher officiating.  Graveside Services will be held  on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Galena Cemetery, 255 North Walnut Street Galena, Ohio 43021, where she will be laid to rest.
