David N. Fogle, 83, of Zanesville, died at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born July 11, 1929 in Middleburg, OH, a son of the late David C. and Jane A. Clark Fogle. He retired from the Zanesville Police Department as a detective. David was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Zane Lodge #5, Eagles, and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He retired at age 52 when he became a gentleman farmer where he enjoyed taking care of his horses and gardening.
Surviving are a daughter, Cathie (Russ) Scott of Zanesville; a son, Jeff (Susan) Fogle of Trinity, NC; one grandson, Matt (Brandi) Scott of Frazeysburg; two granddaughters, Shala (Heath) Davis of Zanesville and Stefanie (John) Rodman of Thornville; ten great grandchildren, Larissa and Lucas Fogle, Makenzie Scott, Kierston and Kylee Hammer, Breanna and Terrell Darden, Jacie Lynn, Johnny, and Danny Rodman; and a brother, Ed Fogle of Zanesville.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene A. Acheson Fogle who died April 4, 2001; and two brothers, Norman and Leon Fogle.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday July 29, 2012 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville. Zane Lodge #5 will hold services at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday July 30, 2012 with Mr. Bruce Gebhart officiating. David will be laid to rest beside his wife, Marlene, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Zanesville, where VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the U.S. Army will hold full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, OH.

Jeff, Cathy and Stefanie: My sympathy on the loss of your father and grandfather. Was not able to make calling hours today. I do have a few articles to get to you, by way of John Rodman. I hope they help. I refer to them as "words of comfort" instead of just a poem. You''''ll understand once you''''ve read them.
