Shirley Mae Dean, 82, of Zanesville, died at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.  She was born September 19, 1929, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Ray and Ethel Bell Ireland.  Shirley retired from the Box Shop Dept. for Brockway Glass.  She was a member of Moose Lodge #867 and was a former member of VFW Post #1058 Ladies Auxiliary and the Fiberglass Boat Club.  She loved the outdoors and playing euchre with all her friends.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Dean of Zanesville; a son, Larry “Doc” (Ann) Dean of Zanesville; a daughter-in-law, Dixie Dean of Zanesville; a grandson, Dusty Dean of Zanesville; a great granddaughter, Kaitlyne Dean; two sisters, Jean Bundy and Edith Galloway, both of Zanesville; a brother, Bryce Ireland of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren “Diz” Dean, who died March 3, 1991; a son, Danny Dean; and twin daughters at birth.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. today, Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Josh Melvin officiating.  Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband, Diz, at Williams Cemetery, near Zanesville.
