Kenneth L. “Kenny” Winland Jr., 65, of Zanesville, died at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House.  He was born August 23, 1946, in Zanesville, the son of the late Kenneth L. Sr. and Dorothy Tipton Winland.  He was the owner and operator of Ken’s Oil on Moxahala Ave., then worked for Don Winland’s Body Shop, retired after 28 years of service as a manager for Big Bear and worked for 13 years at Genesis Lifestyle & Fitness Center.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, mowing, gardening and working outside.  He was Lutheran by faith and a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Colleen Bankes Winland, whom he married October 15, 1966, of the home; two sons, Andrew (Pamela) Winland of Westerville and Matt (Jess) Winland of Nashport; two grandchildren, Tess Elizabeth Winland of Westerville and Jack Tyler Winland of Nashport; a sister, Debbie Winland of Illinois; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and a good friend, John Beegle of Dublin, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mertie and Rex Bankes; and a brother-in-law, Jim Bankes.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Steve McGuire officiating.  Kenneth will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.  The United States Navy in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the graveside.
