Thomas L. "Bill" Ridenour, 98, of Gratiot, died at 11: 46 a.m. on Tuesday, July 03, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. Born February 22, 1914, in Gratiot, to the late Homer and Grace Smart Ridenour. He was a 1932 graduate of the Old Brownsville High School, a self-employed contractor and retired from Newark Air Force Station in1985 after twenty years service. He was a 57-year Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #302, a member of the Ohio VFW, Ohio Historical Society, Licking County Historical Society, the Licking County & Muskingum County Genealogical Societies and a member of Gratiot United Methodist Church. He was a WWII Veteran, having enlisted in the United States Army December 15, 1942 in the Coast Artillery. He served in New Guinea, the Southern Philippines & Luzon as a Rifle Expert Carbine Sharpshooter. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and Good Conduct Ribbon & Victory Medal. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Francis Ridenour whom he married October 10, 1964; a son, Thomas (Zilvia) Ridenour of Thailand; a grandson, Thomas (Amy) Cannon of Ormond Beach, Florida; a granddaughter, Grace Ridenour of Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Conner Cannon, Kacey Cannon and Dallas Cannon; a step-daughter, Joan Graham Miller of Gratiot; a step-granddaughter, Lori (Bill) Echols of Claysville; a step-grandson, Chris (Lisa) Miller of Gahanna, and a step- great granddaughter, Michell Miller of Nashville, TN and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elberta Ridenour and June Gutridge and a brother, John Ridenour. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where the funeral service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Jeff Iden officiating.
