John (Jack) Rutherford, 72, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Genesis Hospital after a four-month illness. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois, October 5, 1944, to the late Marvin and Evelyn Lowes Rutherford. Jack moved to Zanesville with his family in 1949 and graduated from Zanesville High School in 1962. He earned a degree from Wittenberg University and retired after many years of employment at Stewart- Glapat Corporation. Jack was a longtime member of Zanesville Country Club where he was an avid golfer and three-time champion. He was also involved with the Junior Achievement program and developed a senior scholastic program for area college-bound students. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Marcia and James Garland of West Lafayette, Indiana; niece Jennifer Haines of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and nephew Jerry Garland of Denver, Colorado. At Jacks request, no services will be held. The family wishes to thank those at Clay Gardens Place and Genesis Hospital for their care during his illness.
