Forest Guss Obituary

Forest D. Guss, 79, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 7, 2017 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House, Zanesville, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 23, 1937 in Zanesville, son of Robert D. and Alaine (Lemert) Guss. He graduated from Zanesville High School in 1955, loved the Buckeyes, and Myrtle Beach. Forest (Guss) was an avid golfer and spent as much time as possible on the course with his buddies of thirty plus years. He loved working in the yard, playing games with family and friends, watching the Buckeyes, and spending time with his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He worked at the Ohio Power plant in maintenance, owned/operated a mail route and spent the last twenty years as a truck driver working for Schneider and Robinson Trucking. He retired in 2006. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Mary Cecilia (Lanzillotta) Guss; daughters Kimberly (Cindy Scott) Hearing, and Tamara Allen; grandchildren Nicholas (Jonathan Zerulik) Hearing, Nathan (Jessica) Allen, Joshua (Jennifer) Hearing, Andrea (Karl) Mills; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Kierstyn, and Xander Allen, Madison Hardeman, Broc Main, Greyson and Jackson Hearing, and Cameron and Kennadi Mills; a brother, Donald (Carolyn) Guss; and two sisters, Irene Morrison and Roberta Launder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Janice Russell Guss; a brother Robert D. Guss Jr.; and a sister Pauline Guss Fowler. Friends and family may call from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE and one hour prior to the service which will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday February 13, 2017 at North Terrace Church of Christ, 1420 Brandywine Blvd., Zanesville with Mr. William L. Meaige officiating. A dignified cremation will take place following the funeral.
