Clara Shumate

Clara Shumate, 75, of Zanesville, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 12:58 A.M., at Genesis Hospital, Zanesville. She was born on December 8, 1942 in Lorain, a daughter of the late Elvin and Frances Geraldine McDonald Culp. She was a real estate agent for Lepi, Sutton, Findeiss and HER Real Estate. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, a member of the Pilot Club where she had been past president. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Arthur Shumate Jr. whom she married September 14, 1963; two sons, Arthur (Karen) Shumate III of Newark and John (Stacy) Shumate of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Cassandra, Julia, Chelsea and John; five great grandchildren and many brothers and sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and great-grandparents, Gregg S. and Clarabelle Ford. Friends and family may call from 10:00 - 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. Mass of Christian burial will follow immediately at 12:00 P.M. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville with Fr. Martin Ralko officiating. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.
