Cindy Morehead Obituary

Cindy Jean Morehead 69 of Zanesville went home to be with her Father in Heaven peacefully in her home at 5:20am on November 8, 2017. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio to Charles and Jean Hand on February 29, 1948. Following her graduation from Maysville High School in 1965, attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where she obtained her B.S. in education, and later attended Xavier University of Cincinnati receiving a Masters in School Counseling. Cindy was a retired educator with 32 years of service in the Maysville Local School District as a Chemistry, Botany, Typing, Algebra I teacher and School Counselor; and 4 years as school counselor at Muskingum Christian Academy. Cindy attended North Terrace Church of Christ where she was active in initiating the Connection Caf, served on the Seniors Retreat Committee, helped to host Life Group and served in other areas as needed. Cindy became the wife of Charles R. Morehead on December 29, 1967. Her best friend and soul mate for 49 years. Cindy is survived by her mother Cloe Jean Comer Hand, brother Charles S. Hand (Sherri) of Nashport, mother-in-law Marie Morehead of Zanesville. She was preceded in death by her father Charles H. Hand and father-in-law Frederick C. Morehead. Cindy and Chuck are the beloved parents to Dr. Scott R. (Stephanie) Morehead, OBGYN at Adena Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio parents of Ella and Benny. She loved to watch Ella in her dance recitals, school programs and special celebrations and adored Bennys enthusiasm for life. Daughter Amy C. (Ted) Hall of Medina, Ohio, parents of Skylar, River and Isaiah. She loved to attend Skylars school concerts, sporting events and theater performances, River for all his hugs, hat tricks in soccer, and willingness to let Grammy rub his back, and Isaiah for all the love, smiles, and happy times he generated. Cindy and Chuck have been blessed throughout their marriage spending many happy days together with family and friends. They enjoyed gardening, trips to Europe, traveling with family, attending musicals and theater performances, camping, fly fishing, attending craft fairs, and being part of their grandchildrens various activities. One of her favorite mottos was to Do what you love and love what you do. Cindy was a member of the Beaux Arts Club with the Zanesville Museum of Art, a member of the Board of Directors and Trustee until she resigned due to illness. She was also a long-time member of the Meadow-Vale Garden Club and the Junior Assembly, a Genesis auxiliary supporting newborn infants with car seats. Cindy fought a courageous 23-month battle to brain cancer (glioblastoma). Through it all she maintained a joyous and positive attitude thanks to her great faith and love for Jesus. She leaves behind a host of family and friends. Special thanks to the best care givers in the world, most notably Chuck, who was by her side caring for her in love and faithfulness throughout their 50-year marriage. Grow old with me the best is yet to be. Family including her mom and brother who visited nearly every day.
